Welcome to ’90s Overlooked Underheard! An in-depth look at fifty underrated albums from the 1990s… Indie, Alternative, Shoegaze, Grunge, Punk, Lo-fi, Post-Rock, Math-Rock, Hardcore, Industrial, Americana, Ambient, Avant Noise, Hip Hop and more. This episodic, chronological deep-dive into the music of the decade will try to tell the story of how underground music evolved through the ’90s, questioning some of the ideas and narratives that have formed over the years. We’ll also be checking out the physical sleeves/artwork/media (vinyl, CD, and cassette) of every featured album along the way. All 90s OU reviews will be focused on the more-neglected artists and albums of the period. We’ll be looking at… Unsung genre classics, “difficult” albums, discographic oddities, short-lived projects, scene outsiders, “wrong place, wrong time” bands, major-label missteps, overshadowed works and forgotten greats…all of them, personal favorites.
