SWELL…
The Californian band Swell returns to European stages this fall with a new tour that brings their distinctive, dreamy yet raw sound back to life. Conceived by the late David Freel, nicknamed the “godfather of lo-fi”, and Sean Kirkpatrick in San Francisco’s Tenderloin district, the band grew into a cult name, known for its cinematic songs and unmistakable atmosphere of tension and melancholy.
A powerful lineup was assembled for this tour, consisting of the original members Sean Kirkpatrick (drums), John Dettman (vocals/guitar), Tim Adams (bass) and Philippe Gunst (guitar/keys) of the Belgian post-punk band Fragment. Together, they reinterpret the
Swell repertoire with a fresh edge, without losing the original soul of the songs, honoring the legacy of David Freel.
The tour will stop in Belgium, the Netherlands and France, promising an intense live experience for fans of alternative rock with a dark, cinematic edge. This is Swell in a new form: at once familiar and reinvented, a deeply committed live band where old and new sonic landscapes merge seamlessly.
